Calltasker

Send tasks with a touch.

In a busy theatre or emergency department, the fastest way to get the right help is with a single touch. Calltasker works on a fixed touch screen at the point of care that turns a button press into a tracked task on Medtasker.

At the point of care

Hands full and no way
to know if help is coming.

In a theatre or emergency department, the same handful of requests are needed over and over: an orderly to move a patient, a cleaner for a bed, a theatre tech to fetch equipment. The work moves fast, and the person making the request usually has their hands full.

Existing options are blind or slow. A wall-mounted call button or an overhead page is fast, but it sends one fixed signal with no detail or tracking. Stopping to find a phone to call switchboard is disruptive.

As a result, staff trade speed against certainty on requests that happen dozens of times a shift. Across a theatre list or an ED shift, that adds up to avoidable delays and stress at the bedside.

Send a task from a single button

Calltasker runs on a mounted tablet

Sited where the same requests come up again and again, each screen has preconfigured buttons, set to the tasks that matter for that location.
A touch sends the complete Medtasker task to the right person with all information pre-loaded (no phone, no login, no typing).

One touch

Each button is mapped to a predefined task, so the request goes out fully formed, including what’s needed, where and at a preset priority. Staff don’t need to break off to make a call or log in. They press the button and keep working.

Routed to the right role

Because each device is mapped to a location, Calltasker routes the task to the responsible role, reaching the person on duty and available, rather than a named individual who might be off shift.

Tracked to done

The request doesn’t disappear once it’s sent. It moves through each stage until complete, so anyone in the location can see that it’s been picked up and is being actioned.

Built for hospital workers

It started on the floor of an operating theatre

Calltasker came from a real problem on the floor. It was developed with Royal Hobart Hospital’s (RHH) operating theatre staff, where scout nurses needed instant, confirmed communication for end-of-case tasks involving several teams at once.

The wall buttons and overhead pages RHH relied on were fast but unreliable, with no confirmation and no task detail. Calltasker was built to close that gap, and the result was less stress and smoother workflows for the teams using it.

The difference

A call button, with everything it was missing

Calltasker combines the speed of a button press with the certainty of a phone call.

Wall buttons and overhead pages

One fixed signal
No detail beyond the alert itself
Blind to who’s on shift
Send and hope (then follow up)
Leaves no record

Calltasker

A separate task for each button
Task, roles, location and priority pre-populated
Routed to the role on duty and available
Tracked to completion
Every task time-stamped and traceable

Frequently asked questions

Calltasker runs on a mounted tablet that sends predefined Medtasker tasks at the touch of a button. It feeds into Medtasker, rather than running on its own, so a task sent from a Calltasker screen is routed, tracked and recorded within both systems. Staff receive and action tasks on the mobile devices and desktops that they already use.

Each Calltasker screen has buttons that are configured to the tasks that a location runs most often. We help you work out the task and configuration for each button. Button sets are tailored per device.

Calltasker suits high-frequency, fixed points where the same requests come up repeatedly. Locations include clinical areas like operating theatres, emergency departments and wards, and operational functions including patient transport and bed management.

Each Calltasker screen needs a tablet that is mounted in a fixed position (e.g. desk, wall). The screens need no login, so any staff member can press a button and send the task.
